Chess Announcements From Other Clubs

The following are nearby chess club announcements, interesting chess news, or just interesting info we have received for chess within the past month or so from other clubs,   Entries are organized by either the event date or date contributed.   Routine chess club meetings by local clubs are found listed on the chess club page.  Local quads or chess events are found on the chess events page.

Chaturanga Chess Club - Stan Ward

Hi All,

May 7th starts our annual Spring Swiss. We have renamed it the Greg Nolan Memorial Spring Swiss in honor of our late friend Greg Nolan. If you knew Greg at all you knew he was a one of a kind chess personality. He passed too soon and is missed by many for his offbeat take on life and his pure love of the greatest game in the world. so come on out and play in this great tournament. that commemorates our friend Greg, AKA "The Greginator", "Gregzilla" . Details about the event can be found in the attached flyer and video. Also on our website and social media sites, which are linked at the bottom of the email.

Additionally I'd like to announce that Chaturanga is a nominee for the US Chess Federation Chess Club Of The Year for 2026 in the mid sized club category. An official from the USCF may be in attendance for round 1 of the Spring Swiss in order to interview the officers and some members. A really exciting time to play chess and be a member at Chaturanga.
